Tehran, Nov 9, IRNA \u2013 Azarno Gallery in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad will hang a collection of daguerreotypes, pictures made on a silver surface in a photographic process, at an exhibition, which is scheduled to open on Wednesday<\/h3>\n

This is the first time a daguerreotype exhibition will be organized in the country, the director of the gallery, Ali-Mohammad Titkanlu, said during a press conference on Saturday, according to Tehran Times
\nDaguerreotype is a picture made on a silver surface in a photographic process, which was invented in 1839. The picture is made on the silver surface, which is sensitized with iodine and developed by exposure to mercury vapor
\nThe collection, which is composed of 15 daguerreotypes by Mohammad Mohammadzadeh Titkanlu, focuses on Iranian artists, celebrities and luminaries
\nPictures of actor Ezzatollah Entezami, painter Aidin Aghdashlu, poet Simin Behbahani and distinguished law expert Professor Sayed Hassan Amin are seen in the collection
\nTitkanlu said that each picture cost the artist 50,000 rials (over $1500) and added, \u201cDue to its high cost and hardship, this type of photography has not been practiced much in Iran and other Asian countries.\u201d
\nPoet Mohammad Shams Langerudi is scheduled to cut the ribbon to inaugurate the exhibition, which will run until November 17.
\nTitkanlu said that the exhibition will also be held at a gallery in Tehran in the near future<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
